Hi experts,
I am wondering if the licenses could be restored after VCSA/PSC File Level Restore or we should add it back later.
I bet that it will be restored but am not sure.
Does anyone have knowledge on this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am trying to delete the datastore and while deleting it's giving error message has Datastore still in use.
We have unmounted from the all the Host and no vm's are running in the datastore.
Hi, grey666:
From the log, the error shows the vmkbd driver installation always failed, would you mind try to remove the "Enhanced keyboard Driver" feature first, and try to install it again?
As the following picture, set the highlight checkbox unchecked.
You can follow also this
Assuming you have 4.0 U1
First upgrade vcenter server as 5.5 U3 which will support ESXi 4.0
Then upgrade ESXi 5.5 U3
Upgrade windows 2003 to 2008
then upgrade VC as 6.0 vcenter server which will support your ESXi 5.5 U3
Then upgrade ESXi 5.5 to 6.0
Upgrade vmware tool/virtual hardware
Hi everyone,
I am new to vmware so have some very basics question:
1)When creating a VM, one option is to choose a ESXI host that will provide compute resource for the VM such as processor.
Does this compute resource also include RAM ? if yes is it allocated out of ESXI HOST's total RAM?
2) Let say we have single socket dual core processor, assume hyper threading is not enabled.
Will ESXI see 1X2= 2 Logical processors or pcpu?
If hyper threading is enabled, then :
ESXI see 1 x2X2=4 Logical processors?
3) VCPUS are mapped to logical processors in some ratio, Ideally we want single VCPU mapped to single Logical CPU ( pCPU) to avoid contention. But we can also do over subscription for example: 4 VCPU are mapped to single Logical Processor ( pcpu), the draw back is 4 vCPU will be scheduled to single logical Processor , depending upon the load ,some VCPU will have to wait longer than others to be serviced by the logical processor.
Did i get it right?
4) Let say we want to achieve following goal:
Bare minimum, a VM is given 2 VCPU, but in case of heavy load such as VCPU hitting 190% utilization combined, i.e each VCPU is at 95% utilization, VM should be able to request 2 additional vCPU to meet the demand. Once the demand is gone, these 2 additional VCPU should be returned to ESXI host. Is it possible?
Appreciated!!
Доброго времени суток ,камарады!
Столкнулся с проблемой установки линкед клонов.Создаю пул в vshpere 100% завершения .В евенте Горизонта прилетает ошибка "Unable to launch from Pool rdserver for user domain\user: The broker encountered an error while processing the request, please contact support for assistance".
Подскажите куда смотреть .Если мало информации готов выдать не знаю что важно.
Try delete from root
connect direct on host by vc/ui client
or reboot host then delete
I have this exact same issue with a fleet of Samsung NC240's which are Teradici Tera1 clients.
I have done some tracking and found that lets say user #1 logs into Zero #1 and user #2 logs into Zero #2 all is well. Then they get disconnected and when they try to reconnect they get an error saying they can't connect and to contact the administrator.
However I have proven that as others have stated, the view sessions are still running and you can log into those sessions with either another Zero client or a Windows or Mac PC. So there's no issues with the sessions as such. But if user #1 then tries to log back into their session using Zero #1 it's no go for a period of time like 20-30 mins !!
What's odd is that if user#1 and user#2 swap Zero clients they can both login to their sessions just fine using any other device, other than the one they originally got disconnected on...……….. super weird...…...
Any ideas anyone ?
Hi
Did you ever entitle your considered users/group of AD to that linked-clone anyway?
As I understand you successfully create your Pool so you have at least one ready VM for that pool, is it correct? can you send more details about this issue, for example check the status of horizon view services and agent that are deployed inside that VM belongs to your linked-clone desktop pool?
and also check list of deployed machine in the connection server web portal, is this machine in "Available" status or not ?
Hello Bob, Greetings !
Thanks for your reply...
Could you please explain, "vSAN introduced not more than 10% CPU overhead"... How is it benefited for higher performance.
For higher performance , the CPU overhead should be large or small in percentage ?
Note : Quick answers is much appreciated.
Could you upload your VMware.log of failure win 2008 virtual machine?
Which issue?
Looks like the Get-Content is not returning anything.
What does the following return?
Get-Content vmnames.txt
Can you check in the vpxd log to see if there are any further details why the vMotion fails?
man we are talking about Windows 10 1903 with latest updates connecting thru RDP to a similar machine that has VMWare workstation 15.5 insalled on it, which has both windows 10 and centos 7 guests. The mouse moves in a strange way inside the windows 10 and centos guests. The irritating thing is that this doesn't happen on freerdp, and also doesn't occur on virtualbox which makes you think what the hell is going on...
you can't tweak that number Bob mentioned. It is an estimate of what we see on average with customers. If you push an insane amount of IO and have a very demanding workload and various data services enabled that percentage will be higher, if you have a workload not doing anything and no data services turned on it will be lower.
So it comes down to: it depends.
Sounds like that option is kinda Moot ?.. as i can just copy them quick if things get 'bad'.
Depends on how you look at it. The template disk basically is nothing more than just a VMDK with about 5 to 10 files on it which can easily be recreated. If you did not alter the appstack template you can very easily upload them again using the Configuration --> Storage --> Upload Preppackaged Volumes. You can choose different locations to upload the templates (writables and appstacks) and also you can choose the default storage location.
What your looking at here is the storage group. This is mostly used to synchronize appstacks between different storages. If you have multuiple datastores in the group you can select 1 of them as the default template location.
When creating an appstack you can choose a datastore or a storage group. To be honest I don't see much difference in it. If you choose a datastore that is a member of a storage group it will eventually be synced to the other datastore by itself.
Does this compute resource also include RAM ?
Yes of course. it's include CPU, RAM, Disk, Network and any other required hardware for that virtual machine. In a moment ONLY one of the ESXi host in your virtualization infrastructure can provide all required hardware resources for your VM and if you migrate the VM to another host, destination host will handle this matter after migration completed.
About your 2nd question, ESXi is the responsible for providing vCPU for the VMs from its total physical resources (Sockets and Cores) but don' think about if you enable HT feature, it will increase count of available vCPU in the wizard of new virtual machine creation
Enabling HT does NOT mean you can increase total count of CPU cores. This feature just can help the host to better threads handling
Once the demand is gone, these 2 additional VCPU should be returned to ESXI host. Is it possible?
If you mean this hardware association happens dynamically with a intelligence mechanism, of course it's not possible!
You must calculate required resources for each VM, in a minimum usage, average demand and also high utilization. So if you faced to many times of high utilization CPU by a VM you need to assign more core to that VM.
