It works now, after restarting the Player I guess.

Hello,
What is the fastest VMWare certification or easiest to get my VMWare certifications started?

vSAN Disk Group Configuration Question.
I have spent a lot of time trying to find an answer to this question, but I have not been able to find a definite answer. Any insight is appreciated.
We are running a 4 node vSAN 6.7 U2 setup. We started with 2 nodes a few years ago and have added the other 2 nodes in the last year by reappropriating some existing hard.
This has created vSAN disk groups that are not similar. This year we have replaced all the caching drive so that they are all identical on every host, but that is not the case for the capacity drives. I know that in a perfect situation, all capacity drives would be the same size, but I have a limited budget.
My question: what should be my main goal be when choosing the capacity drives for a disk group?
Any insight on this is appreciated.
Here are our disk groups configuration:
Host 1
Disk Group 1 = 4 Capacity Disk

Disk Group 2 = 1 Capacity Disk
3.5TB
Disk Group 3 = 4 Capacity Disk

Host 2

Feature Request - We really need an exclude file
William Lam,
Hopefully you will see this.
As far as I can tell, we can still pass an include list into GhettoVCB.sh to allow us to hand pick which VMDK files to backup. However, this is a very error prone way of handling this if, like us, you run in an environment where backing up everything with GhettoVCB is the norm. Still, we have found some systems where the size of a data drive doesn't lend itself well to falling in line for our GhettoVCB backups. Ideally, I would like to be able to call out a specific VMDK to always skip.
I've thought about writing a little script to dynamically create an include file that removes VMDKs that we want to exclude. However it would be so much more useful, and likely sustainable, if your GhettoVCB.sh script allowed us to either point to an include file, or use a different flag to point to an exclude file.
Is this something you have considered, ruled out, or perhaps have plans to get to?
@Lamw
Thanks!
Re: VCP Certification road map.
If you have a Cisco certification (CCNA or above) you can achieve the VCP-NV by passing 2 exams.
Unless that is true for you, the requirements for every VCP are broadly the same:
1. Attend authorised training
2. Pass the vSphere Foundations exam
3. Pass the exam for the specific VCP you want to achieve
Start here, select the technology track, then you’ll find the VCP page for your chosen track: Certification

Re: Windows 10 1809, DEM 9.9 - PM to DEM Migration issues and Chrome Archive issue/bloat
Just for tracking purposes - I upgraded to DEM 9.10 and re-downloaded the Google Chrome application profile with DirectFlex enabled - it now works.
I tested Mozilla Firefox, again with re-downloaded the profile, and that does not work.
Re: Server 2012 Inaccessible_Boot_Device after V2V from Hyper-V.
Good Evening,
at first i have to apologize for my bad english, but i hope you understand me and my resolution for the problem.
I had the same problem this week after converting a Hyper-V machine to VMWare Vcenter. The Problem is caused through drivers which are unable to load.
You have to boot to cmd line via Advanced Boot Options or Windows Server 2012 Instalc-CD/ISO.The you have to Install all Third Party Drivers to get Windows Booting. The following command shows all installed Third-Party Drivers of the mounted Windows Installation:
dism /Image:[Volume with WIndows-Installation]C:\ /Get-Drivers
The Shown Drivers are name oem[number].inf . To resolve the Problem, you have to remove this drivers with th following command:
dism /Image:C:\ /Remove-Driver /Driver:oem1,inf
You have to do it for each oem.inf
To finalize it you have to reeboot an you see it will work.
How does windows know the VM display adapters hardware ID before VM Tools is even installed?
If I delete the VGA.ROM file from the vmware-vmx.exe's folder from my host's hard drive, and try to boot up a windows VM, it displys an error message saying that it couldn't find the VGA.ROM file as soon as I start the VM,however, it gets past the error message with seemingly no further problems and loads into windows, but everyting is in black and white and set to 640x480 resolution. If I install VM Tools, the display problems seem to entirely dissappear and it seems to have all the features of a full 1080p, with I assume 3d acceleration as well, even though the VGA.ROM file was deleted. I thought that was kind of interesting, but, that's not even my question...
So here's my question... If I DO NOT install VM Tools, and I'm in windows with no VGA.ROM, with black and white only, 640x480 resolution, and nothing but the microsoft basic display adapter... if I go to device manager and look at details on the display adapter, under hardware id, it gives me this: PCI\VEN_15AD&DEV_0405&SUBSYS_040515AD&REV_00
That VEN_15AD is the vendor ID number for VMWare, which means that windows is seeing the virtual device's hardware id number. That hardware ID is always the same. It's the same if I install or don't install VM Tools, and it's the same if I delete or don't delete the VGA.ROM file. It seems like no matter what, windows always knows and see's that same hardware ID string for the display adapter: PCI\VEN_15AD&DEV_0405&SUBSYS_040515AD&REV_00.
My question is, where is windows getting this information? I've deleted the VGA.ROM file, and it still somehow knows and sees this hardware id number.
In a physical machine, I would conclude that windows is directly accessing the physical device through the PCI port, and that the device is telling windows what it is. However, in this case, I've deleted the VGA.ROM file, which i assume is supposed to be the device's bios file. Without that, I can't see how the virtual adapter is telling windows anything AT ALL (I'm surprised it even boots, but admittingly I don't really know how rom files work to be honest). But since this is a virtual device, I know windows is not talking to a physical device. Windows must be talking to a piece of software, and that software must be giving windows that hardware ID string. i checked the windows reigstry, and it's not there either. So my question is... if it's not in the registry, and not VGA.ROM or VM Tools or any driver (no drivers are installed), then what path is windows taking to get this information, and what peice of software is sitting at the end of that path, communicating this hardware ID information back to the VM?
IPV6 + ipsec removing SAs breaks esxcli API
Hi,
I am facing a problem on 6.0.0 and 6.7.0 esxi's that adding new sa + sp, then deleting them will leave the system broken. Haven't tried rebooting, but nothing seems to recover to the level where I could execute the "esxcli network ip ipsec sa list" command again.
It returns: Failed to add SPD Config: Unable to get SAD info for ID : **LOCALIPV6ADDR***-**REMOTEIPV6ADDR**-1-**SASPINUM** Unable to complete Sysinfo operation. Please see the VMkernel log file for more details.: Sysinfo error: Not foundSee VMkernel log for details.
Where the ipv6 addresses and saspinum are the references to the deleted SA.
There is nothing in the log except this error message (esxcli.log).
I can create new ones, but cannot add SP because it somehow wants to call the same list command internally to find the SA by name. And since that is broken, nothing works any more.
Is there a way similar to linux's setkey flush and spdflush?
Or any other way to reconfigure the SA+SPs?
Maybe even some magic manhandling of some database to remove the offensive entry?
This must make it extremely difficult to rotate keys time2time
Otherwise I think it will be hypervisor reboot to see.
Thanks
Levi

how could I make sure in the domain account or local account? I already try to reinstall it many times.
Re: ELX_bootbank_elx-esx-libelxima.so conflict between patch baseline and HP custom ISO.
OP here. Added the base HPE vibsdepot URL to VUM yesterday and had no issues. Today I've added the "-drv" variant and brought back all of the libelxima-breaking-host-scan-HPE-driver-bundle-never-installs happy joy described in the two pages above. Once again I had to uncancer my VUM with a database reset to get it working again.
You ever get the feeling some people just stopped trying?

vSAN test
Hi,
I am trying to build vSAN test environment in my lab wherein I have only single piece of Hardware (Dell Server). Below is my idea, please let me know if t works or not:
Configuration:
++ Dell Hardware with 32GB RAM
Idea:
To configure vSAN, a minimum of three ESXi 5.5 hosts, all contributing local disks (1 SSD and 1 HDD)
++ First, I will install windows server 2016 on Dell server
++ On top of that I will install Desktop windows OS so that I can install Workstation and top of that install 3 esxi host for vSAN cluster.
Will this above idea successful? If yes, I will then proceed to make hybrid connection (My on prim lab to AWS cloud)

Re: Distorted audio playback with VM 15.5
I can't take credit for the SOLUTION to the audio distortion problem in 15.5 and Windows 10 host. But, here is what someone else suggested, and it worked like a charm:
Open Windows Media Play, set it to Now Playing, and then minimize it. That's IT! If you don't believe me try playing some system sounds, like Windows log on or Windows Exit, etc.
I have no idea why this works but it DOES.
For your information, I do NOT have the problem on my Asus Z97-pro Tower, running VM 15.5 and Win 10 as the host.
I only have the problem on my Lenovo P50 laptop with the same versions. Go figure!
Note: I just discovered the fix is not a permanent one. If the distorted audio drives you as crazy as me, you'll have to start Windows Media Player in your virtual machine and set it to now playing and then minimize Each and Every Time you fire your XP or 7 virtual machine up!
Maybe someone can figure out a permanent fix??
Hope this helps!
