Well that becomes tracking an unfinished workflow at that point right?

Hopefully no one would expect cancelling the parent would cancel any asynchronously launched jobs, whether that's workflows, scripts or even non-vRO jobs.

Re: AD plugin object tree selector - root object

You have to specify the root object of that plug-in type. In this case you can only limit it to an AD:AdHost, not an OU.

Also root object presentation is not supported in XaaS unfortunately.

Temp license switch

I use vmaware essential plus license which is a adequate for my three host and vm. However, recently I was trying to move the VM from SAN to local storage to upgrade the SAN firmware then I noticed that the live storage migration is not supported. Would be possible to apply eval license until the SAN maintenance do live migration to local storage and move them back to SAN and switch back to essentials for couple of plus.

What’s the reason you’re using the Blast tunnel? It’s common to disable that altogether for internal users on the Connection Servers to avoid the exact scenario you’ve described. This prevents disconnects during reboots / maintenance.

Furthermore, if you wish to withstand a CS failure, you should have your Connection Servers load balanced and your clients should be pointing to the VIP instead of the Connection Servers themselves.

Hi T180985,

Thanks for the feedback. I will take a look at those VR logs and see it I can find some clue.

Interesting is that it only happened to certain VM. The rest are working as expected.

I will provide further update.

Re: ESXi host connectivity with vCenter Server

I have the same exact issue.  I've got 3 different hosts on 3 different networks, but they're all able to talk to each other.

This is a brand new vSphere 6.7 U3 setup with the latest patches.  All hosts are running ESXi 6.7 with the latest patches.

I don't see any issue or loss of connectivity in the vSphere client itself, but the Skyline Health thing always reports the ESXi host connectivity issue.

I've monitored network traffic at one of our firewall appliances, and I see the UDP packets are not being blocked in any way, but I see very few of them.  I certainly do not see one every 10 seconds.  I see one from a given host IP to the VCSA IP about once every 2 minutes.  No, the network is not congested.  They're all in the same rack in the same data center, and they're the only things connected to that rack's switch.

Windows 10 update to version 1903 fails when it loses USB external drive on restart using VMware Fusion 8.5.10

Tried everything I can think of.  After deleting every possible file and program I could except for the program I use that can't be uninstalled without creating far larger issues (and it takes huge space) I still can not free up enough memory for the update.  I'm trying to upgrade Windows 10 to version 1903 which requires more memory than I can make available.  I have expanded the virtual machine as far as I can so I am only left with selecting an external source to store the upgrade files.  Well all of that works fine until the upgrade gets to the point where it has to restart windows which restarts Vmware and in doing that it loses the connection to the external drive where the files are so then the upgrade fails and unloads itself.  I have set the particular USB drive to automatically connect to VMware upon startup but either it is not doing that or not doing so fast enough.

In a nutshell since support is ending for 1805 I need to figure out how to get 1903 installed.  Open for ideas.  Thanks!

Appvol upgrade 2.15 to 2.18 new appstack or update appstack client disconnect issue

Was wondering if anyone experience any disconnect issues during Windows login screen after you update a 2.15 appstack to 2.18 and assigning it to a user? Basically, when I use the latest Horizon Client (Blast, PcoIP) and HTML I see the windows spinning wheel for a second and then it freezes and it disconnects after 15-30 seconds. It happens on both client and web. The session is active on the connection server but I just can't connect to it with the client or web. I'm actually able to resume the session when I login to Vsphere Console and coincidentally I can login with the client when I change display protocol to RDP.

I then created a new 2.18 appstack and assigned it to the same two test users and everything worked. I updated the same appstack and it worked but for some reason when I update the same appstack a 3rd time, I experience the same problem.

I tested with the 2.17.1 provisioning agent by first updating the 2.15 appstack and that worked. I then created a new 2.17.1 appstack and updated 3 times and it worked too. I have better luck when I install 2.17.1 agent on the provisioning machine. For whatever reason, HTML, Blast, and PCoip disconnects during login when I either update an update an appstack or create new appstask with the latest agent and I update it 3 times. Really weird issue.

I somehow was able to recreate this on my test environment. I started out with appvolumes 2.15 and upgraded to 2.18 and was able to reproduce the same issue.

Horizon 7.10 (Upgraded from 7.7)

DEM 9.9 (Upgraded from 9.6)

AppVolumes 2.18 (Upgraded from 2.15)

And this doesn't mean that it can't be done, but I wouldn't do it in production.

Re: vSphere 6.7. Stretched vSAN with vCenter High Availability (VCHA) across the 3 sites?

Check this link:

vCenter High Availability Deep Dive - Part 1 - VMware vSphere Blog

We have the same stretched vSAN setup as you. We had VCHA running, but got rid of it after a couple of months. You have to ask yourself why you want it? What are you trying to achieve?

For us, it crashed many times, was out of sync a few times, and when it comes to upgrading you have to blow it away and reconfigure it each time. Everytime there was a failover, it was at least 5 minutes before it was available again. Totally worthless, when vCenter reboots in less than 30 seconds and is available again.

Maybe once it's out of "beta" mode in future versions we will look at it again.

Re: Workspace (airwatch) question regarding Cloud connector

bully79 -- If memory serves me, it should still be running full time.   If the ACC (AirWatch Cloud Connector) isn't running, then it won't be available to authenticate users against your Active Directory DC's.  You'll need to check the logs for the ACC to see why it's stopping.   Also, make sure that the server running the ACC has outbound connectivity to AWCM (AirWatch Cloud Messaging).

v7.7 Horizon Instant Clones lose NICs - solved

I playing in a nested lab and finding that my Win10 instant clones lose their NICs after deploying and user logon.

2nd child comes up with this error status , then all of the VMs lose their NICs as users logon.

Not seen this before and I've done about 8 of these labs before in v7.7... but with Distributed vSwitch !

The VM NIC disappears when not attached to a DVS portgroup.   If you configure the Instant clone pool for dedicated assignments,

you need a DVS.  Floating assignments will work with standard vswitches but dedicated will not.  go figure.

The error message could be expressed better.  Gives me the impression the NIC wasn't created.

Hello guys!

Is there any tips to automate the firewall changes and present it via VRA?

I tried to build a workflow in the VRO but the NSX-T should be added as a end-point in the VRO,the  problem is that i can not find any NSX-T plugin for the VRO!

Thank you
