These cmdlets use a specific script (in C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\Infrastructure\vSphere PowerCLI\Scripts) for a specific guest OS.
The output of the commands the cmdlet uses to retrieve the NIC information is different per guest OS.
As you will notice there is no script for W2K12R2.
In the Release Notes it is also stated "The following cmdlets have been marked as deprecated and will be removed in a future version of PowerCLI"
The best solution is to use the Invoke-VMScript cmdlet, run the NIC information retrieval command and handle the returned results in your script.
